How to Find Profitable Long Tail Keywords

February 16th, 2009

Do you want to know how to find profitable long tail keywords? In my last article entitled “How Can I Get Money to Start My Own Business,” I would advise my subscribers to possibly disregard the information that is presented for the following reasons:

1.) I didn’t write the article for you but rather for the people looking for that information.

2.) You probably know how to get money to start your own business…

However for those that have decided to follow my articles very closely, if you have a blog that’s focused on internet marketing or the MMO field, I would challenge you to create a similar article and try to compete with me for the long tail keyword that I targeted…

This blog has been created to do a few things, firstly I want to show off my knowledge regarding internet marketing and search engine optimization and use it as an online portfolio in order to obtain consulting clients and joint venture partners.

Secondly I am hoping to make money off the traffic that doesn’t feel like sticking around, people are going to look for certain keywords everyday and if those keywords involve something that I am interested in, you better believe that I will be right there to provide them with the information they are looking for.

Last but not least, I have created this blog and website in order to establish a relationship with like minded people that wouldn’t mind reaching out in order to make a community and a network that is greater than our individual operations. I am not talking about a cult but rather a sort of resource directory that we can call upon when we need advice, assistance with link building, support for a new product or service i.e. promotions.

Once again I have taken a turn off the article title line into one of my enjoyable but off the topic rants.

Let’s get back on the focus of this article which is:

“How do I find profitable long tail keywords?”

This is something that I have been asking myself lately, I have a general methodology for going about this but recently it’s been a hobby of mine to reinvent the wheel so to speak for several of my “common practices,” regarding internet marketing and business growth in general.

I’ve focused my efforts in the past on using the Google Keyword tool or products like Keyword Elite to find profitable niches and long tail keywords that accommodate them. Lately I’ve been playing around with a free service called Wordtracker and to be honest, I am extremely happy with the information it provides. Because it gives you long tail keywords that accommodate your search keyword, just like Google, it’s a very handy thing to have. In addition, the free service gives you the number of times people search for your long tail term on a daily basis. This is something that Google doesn’t provide and its also something that I think is fantastic.

Think about it, find a product or service that has a high Adwords bid price, then go and type the name of that product or service into wordtracker, then go down the list and find a long tail term that gives you a decent amount of daily searches but that has a very low number of competitors for the term. You can do this by plugging in the worm sentence into Google with quotations to request an exact match.

Seriously, I don’t claim to be an expert on this subject but try both of these approaches and tell me which one works the best for you!

Maybe down the road I will write another article with a revised method that works better than this but until then I definitely don’t want people coming back and asking me how to find profitable long tail keywords.

If you’ve got a better way to do this research, please tell us, what is your approach?

How Can I Get Money to Start My Own Business

February 16th, 2009

A very common question people often ask is how can I get money to start my own business? If you need to get money to start your own business there are a million ways you can go about it…

The first thing you might want to consider is what type of business you would like to start because the capital requirements and cost of entry to the market will vary from a few bucks a day to a few thousand or even more.

If this is your first business I would recommend that you find a niche or focus area that has extremely low overhead. Think about it, what would be cheaper to run a grocery store or a landscaping company? Well the two vary in the sense that you need to have a large inventory with the grocery store and with the landscaping company you only need to buy the necessary equipment and basic supplies like string for your weed-wacker and bags to place excess leaves and clean green materials.

The following are a list of ways you may be able to get money to start your own business:

1.) Apply for a government grant.
2.) Ask friends and family members to make a contribution or investment.
3.) Conduct a garage sale and let people know it’s for a good cause.
4.) Create a business plan and search for outside investors
5.) Go to the bank and see if you can get a loan.
6.) Apply for a business license and open up a business line of credit.
7.) Sell items you don’t need on E-bay and use the proceeds as a business fund.
8.) Get a part time job and save a portion of the income.

Generally people are not going to just give you money without expecting something in return. This is why it would be a great idea to create a business plan before you begin to approach people regarding the investment opportunity. In your business plan you will have a chance to explore every aspect of your business idea in more detail and answer the following questions:

1.) How much money does it take to start the business?
2.) What is the primary product or service you want to sell?
3.) What equipment or merchandise or supplies do you need to purchase?
4.) How much will you charge for your product or service?
5.) Where are you going to find your customers?
6.) How are you going to find your customers?
7.) Are you going to work from home or rent a brick and mortar storefront?

I understand that this is a very basic roadmap to success but hopefully the following information will assist you in your journey towards being your own boss. This website generally focuses on online businesses. If you choose to create an online business you may find some of the articles extremely valuable in this regard.

If you asked me : how can I get money to start my own business?

I would have to respond by saying that it all depends on how much you need, who you know and what types of revenue producing activities you are willing to conduct to make your dream a reality.

How to Make a Blog

February 16th, 2009

This article will teach you how to make a blog from start to finish. Blogging is becoming a lot more common due to the fact that it’s an easy way to express yourself and a very popular way to make money online. People that want to learn how to create a blog can use this article as a roadmap to success.

The following is a basic list of things you will want to consider before you begin:

1.) What do you want to write about?

Generally blogs are focused on a single niche or subject but some people prefer to write about several related topics, these are usually referred to as authority blogs.

Many people choose to write about a particular product or service, others like to focus on broader areas like health and fitness or debt consolidation. Businesses generally create them in order to promote themselves and offer their customer’s updates and advice pertaining to their products.

2.) Do you want to pay for your own website domain or create a free blog?

There are two ways to make a blog. The first option which I recommend if this is going to be your first attempt is signing up and getting a free one at either: Blogger.com or WordPress.com

If your goal is to make money online and earn a living working from home, I recommend that you choose Blogger.com because it gives you the ability to use Google Adsense advertising, something that Wordpress doesn’t allow.

The second option will involve making a small investment and purchasing your own website domain and hosting. This is the route you may want to go if you’re really planning to invest a lot of time and energy in your blog.

Most of the people that are making big money online have gone this route because they want to own their blog completely and not be dependent on another website’s hosting, rules and regulations.

If you noticed that Your Blog Is Money has it’s own domain name, there’s a reason for that… I don’t want to promote someone else’s website or company and generally if you have your own domain name you will be more respected by both the blogging community and visitors that are searching for the topics you write about.

I decided to purchase my web hosting and domain from a company called Bluehost. It only costs $6.95 per month for web hosting and it includes 1 free domain name. Believe me if you really want to make it big, this is the route you will eventually want to take.

If you decide to get your own website/domain for your blog, you will want to install a blogging platform like WordPress on your website. If you have your own website/domain, you can use Google Adsense and any sort of other advertiser or product sales link you would like with the “self-hosted” version of WordPress.

This may seem like a complicated thing to set up but believe me, it is extremely easy. If you want to go this route but feel intimidated by the WordPress installation process, feel free to contact me regarding my affordable blog consulting and installation services.

I understand if you don’t feel like getting your own website at this time is something you can afford. Believe me, I know that it’s not easy to get up the courage and save up the money to be able to make a real investment in your online business. If this is the case, setting up a free blog can be a great source of income as well.

Getting Started

At this point you have determined what your blog is going to be about and if it’s going to be with a free hosting service or your own website. I have gone ahead and created a five step tutorial for creating a blog that will be optimized to make money online with Blogger.com.

If you’re ready to move on in this tutorial, please go ahead and click on the following link:

New Blog

February 16th, 2009

This article is written for people that want to create a new blog… Even though in the past I have said that Your Blog Is Money is going to be focused primarily on blogging strategies, bloggers and everything blog related including how to make money online with blogs. After doing some research even though the number of people searching for my main target keywords is an extremely high volume…

I’ve decided that this site has the ability to bring in a completely different type of visitor, one that just wants to learn about ways that they can work from home and make money online. The methods that my articles discuss generally involve reading, writing and link building in order to create websites and blogs that draw in traffic ultimately resulting in a revenue stream that is substantial enough to quit your day job and continue to do internet marketing full time as a profession.

If you get good enough in this field, there is no way you wont be able to earn a decent living through blogging in niche related fields and offering search engine optimization consulting services to the masses of people and business that don’t want anything to do with it.

I wanted to just remind my loyal subscribers that this blog will ultimately become a general or authority website about ways to make money online that go beyond simply creating a new blog.

That being said, lets get down to business and cover some bases relating to the title of this post:

Keyword Research

This is probably my least favorite activity but I’ve found that making this a daily activity as of late, its starting to become more enjoyable because I am getting better at it!

Finding a niche can be a very difficult task and even more difficult is finding a niche that has all the perfect criteria for a complete marketing assault on the competition.

What types of things should we look at in regard to finding a profitable niche?

I would say that you probably won’t find the “best” niche for starters but you can definitely find something that has potential. When I do keyword research I like to start with a buying term, something that is laser targeted on a buying impulse…

Basically start with the problem and present the solution…

There are two types of monetization strategies that should be considered when finding a new niche for profit. Are you planning to create a website that is focused on advertising revenues or affiliate marketing?

You can always do both but many times its better to create a new site with a very clear intent so as to make the most progress in the quickest amount of time.

If your goal is to market affiliate products with your new blog or website, try to find a product/service or niche related to the product/service that has the following attributes:

High search volume (use the Google keyword tool or Wordtracker)

High affiliate payout or pay per click rate (figure out if the commission you will be getting on the product via clickbank, paydotcom or another affiliate company is worth the effort, use a program like keyword elite to figure out the average adwords bid price)

Low competition (If the product is weight loss pills search Google for the term and place it in quotations to limit your search to the exact phrase.)

Once you find a niche that has a high search volume, high adwords bid price and low number of competing websites, you have a winner. Keep in mind that you are looking for the best combination of the variables.

Some people like to work on niches that are very obscure; they develop winning strategies based around low competition and high conversion rates. In addition, laser targeted niche sites are easier and quicker to build which results in the ability to create several small sites in the time it would take to make an authority site.

If it’s not obvious by now, I have been spending a lot of time building content on this website in an effort to make this my authority site on how to make money online. Sure I have other niche sites and usually I create websites and blogs in pairs so that I can facilitate my 3 way link exchanges and not have to inconvenience people who only have one related niche site.

That is simply my strategy regarding how I create a new blog. If you’ve read a few of my articles I hope that its clear that I don’t imply to be the expert in this niche or any other however, my formula does create websites and blogs that make money so when I write about a topic like this, I don’t have to feel like a hypocrite.

If you want to know more about this article’s topic, you can always feel free to check out some of the leading authorities in this niche, people like John Chow, Carl Ocab, Shoemoney, and Grizzly (although he doesn’t like to be referred to as an a lister, even though in my opinion, he is or at least the money he has coming in should make him one if only as an honorary title lol).
In addition, people have called me out before on this blog and others in an attempt to criticize the information I present as being inaccurate or flat out lies however I don’t take the criticism personally and its always welcomed… The fact of the matter is that while those people are out criticizing, I am creating content and building anchor text links to make that content popular. In fact, I bet you’d be surprised to know that I am even building links while writing this article… How did I accomplish that? I’ll leave it up to your imagination but just keep in mind that it is possible.

The nice thing about internet marketing is that there is more than enough money to go around! Find a niche, make a blog, create content, acquire anchor text backlinks, get to the top of the Google search results for your target keywords rinse and repeat. If you have a better strategy for building an empire and making residual income online, please drop me a comment and let me know! If I like the answer I may decide to bring it up in a future post and will make sure to give credit to the author!

Making Money on the Web

February 16th, 2009

If you want to become and expert at making money I’d suggest the best way to start is to read a few of the articles on this website especially the series I wrote about How to Make Money Online. In addition, spend some time checking out other authority blogs on the topic… There are several other experts in the field that offer great advice, free of charge including Darren Rowse with ProBlogger, Carl Ocab, John Chow and Grizzly with How to Make Money for Beginners, just to name a few…

If you came here looking to get rich quick then think again… But, if you are willing to work hard, learn the techniques of seasoned internet marketers and slowly build a business that consists of blogs, websites and other internet related activities, you will figure it out eventually and then you can quit your job and make money online for the rest of your life. Let’s go ahead and list a few things that might help you create a new money making niche blog:

1.) Google Keyword Tool – This is something that has been very helpful for me in regard to finding niches. Sure, it’s like shooting in the dark but just search for anything you’re even remotely interested in, check out how many searches are done on average monthly and then go out and find a domain name either from Bluehost or Blogger that has the root keyword terms in it. Here’s a free niche that I happen to know is profitable:

Keyword Est.

business cards

Searches Per Day

10,092

Est. Adwords Cost Per Click

$10.56

Est. # of Comp.Websites

24,800,000

Business cards might not seem like the greatest niche but would you look at what Adwords advertisers are paying per click! Think about that, if Google pays you half of that on average per click and you’re goal is to make $100/day for starters that means you just need to find a domain that has the term business cards somewhere in it and get to work! For example, I noticed that small business cards had 328 searches per day and it was paying out $10.28 per click. If you’re looking for small color business cards don’t forget about me alright.

If you look at the name, I think it’s great because small business cards, color business cards and business cards are all terms that can be derived from the name. Hey, I don’t mind if you want to compete, I like a challenge and believe me, trying to beat out 24,800,000 competing websites isn’t going to be easy anyways…

2.) Google Search with Quotations – When you use the Google Keyword tool you will see that it doesn’t provide you with this useful Adwords information so you are going to have to use some basic research to get a feel for how much it pays. The first thing I would do is type the desired keyword into Google and figure out how much competition there is for your term. The second thing I normally do is type the same anchor keyword into Google but this time in quotations. This provides you with an exact match for your term and will give you a more realistic view of how many websites you will be competing with.

3.) Check the Sponsored Advertisements – Since you probably won’t have this Adwords payout information that I presented you can get a basic idea of what advertisers are paying to be on the top by simply looking in the Sponsored area after you search for your term. Are the advertisers large companies like Visa, Amazon or Ebay or are they small outfits that are trying to sell affiliate products? Hey I know this is kind of a lame approach but believe me, it works…

I really went down a side road on this article! Wasn’t it supposed to be about how to make money on the web?

Well let me pitch a few more things that might help you out… Because this blogging for money thing isn’t for everyone I’m happy to provide a few alternatives. I’ve used a program before called project payday and you’re not going to get rich if you use their program but it is free to join and I’ve made about a thousand dollars with it so far…

I’m extremely lazy and prefer writing content for my cash rather than filling out offers and that’s pretty much what it’s about. Since this is a make money online blog I try to remember to offer alternatives to make money blogs as a way to earn income. The project payday program can be used to make some quick cash so you could buy a few domains, pay for web hosting with bluehost and start running your own enterprise of websites that make advertising and affiliate revenue..

Or you could just spend the cash on beer or nachos. At bare minimum I hope this article has offered up some information that will be useful to you, i.e. whoever might be reading this post… If you enjoyed this article, please let me know by answering the following question: What strategies would you implement in regard to internet marketing if you wanted to sell Igloos to Eskimos with your website? Anybody who is ready to learn how to make money on the web with a blog can feel free to read the first part of my series entitled: How to Make Money Online Step 1

1WayLinks Review

February 16th, 2009

Develop a Winning Strategy with 1WayLinks.net

This is a 1waylinks review worth reading! You can keep spinning your wheels or make one of the best decisions of your life by getting on board with Jon Leger. From years of research and discover regarding topics like search engine optimization, page rank, internet marketing and web traffic generation techniques, I have found that in regard to SEO because of Google’s new and improved system for Page Rank, one way links are not only helpful but necessary to the survival and growth of a website.

The fact is that you could crank out quality content and articles all day long but if you don’t engage in one way link building activities you will probably not get the web traffic you are hoping for. I have spent a lot of time working on the content for my various websites, trying to create the most compelling articles and offering advice and resources that actually help the people that read them.

In addition, I have done everything right from an on-site SEO perspective including keyword targeting on my titles, headers, on page content, URL’s everything that matters!

What I’m trying to say is that unless you focus on your 1 way linking strategy and make it a real part of your traffic generation plan, you may not be able to outmaneuver your competition.

It’s amazing that people don’t focus the majority of their time on building quality links and instead spend their time creating content that nobody will ever see because to Google, Yahoo and MSN their site practically doesn’t exist.

Before I did the appropriate research, I was still building links the old fashioned way (which I still do to this day) by creating Squidoo lenses and tons of blogs that would help support my main websites. Other methods I used for getting backlinks included forum posting, blog commenting, social networking on sites that offered do-follow links and I have a few other methods I won’t go into right now…

The fact of the matter is that it takes time to conduct a quality linking campaign and even with all the free sources there are to come up with new quality links it still doesn’t seem like it’s enough!

Unless your site has a page rank that is respectable you can completely rule out any sort of 3 way link exchange. What I’m getting at is that if you want to make money online, you have to be prepared to invest like the top internet marketers do everyday.

Running any sort of business has expenses and if you find a way to make sure the return on your investment outweighs the cost then you should invest as much as you are able!

Lets be clear on this, the top internet marketers didn’t get their by accident, the fact is that they have information and experience that the general public does not possess. Beyond that, they know how to leverage that information and implement that information in a way that makes them money!

That brings me to the topic of this article… Jon Leger is an internet marketing genius and he came up with a program called 1waylinks.net that will practically let you put your link building campaign on autopilot. The traffic that you will get from his system will be unlike anything you ever imagined and it won’t take as long as you think it would to start seeing immediate results.

The system focuses on the creation of small 250 word articles that you will need to create and within them you will be able place up to 3 anchor text links in each article. Each of these articles will be placed on independent websites with their own unique IP addresses.

In addition, because the program has been around for a while, a lot of the websites are starting to acquire page rank that could be compared to that of Linkvana’s premium service. These are quality links from sites that are not too shabby themselves.

Backlinks and especially anchor text links from higher page rank sites tell Google that your website is important and should be given additional consideration in regard to where you can find it in the search engines.

The difference between 1waylinks.net and Text Link Ads is that with 1waylinks, when you drop a link on one of the sites it will be permanent assuming that you don’t violate the terms and conditions of the program. With Text Link Ads you may be able to purchase a decent link but you will have to pay for that link every month without fail or else it will simply disappear.

The technique for getting traffic is not as hard as people think; it takes time, hard work, quality content and a lot of anchor text links. You should be spending 20% of your time creating fresh material for the search engines and your readers and the other 80% of your time spent on blog or website related activities should be spent getting quality links.

What if you could save a whole lot of time in regard to getting those links? That would free you up to work on new blogs, websites and articles that could be making you even more money in the future.

I have a master strategy for using Jonathan Leger’s 1waylinks.net program. If you decide to sign up using my affiliate link, just drop me a comment and I will send you a .PDF tutorial with all my 1waylinks secrets and tricks to get the most out of the program and outrank your competition in the search engines!

Money Making Message Boards

February 16th, 2009

Warrior Forum, Sitepoint and DigitalPoint

On your quest to learn how to create a money making blog it is a good idea to seek out money making message boards sometimes referred to as forums or guestbooks. There are a million forums out there but in regard to internet marketing there are a few that I would highly recommend above others…

WarriorForum is probably my favorite out of all the money making message boards. It has an amazing layout and more importantly, the threads and members are extremely helpful. Beyond that, its focus is centered on how to make money online through successful application of internet marketing techniques.

If you work hard to become a member, many joint venture opportunities will open up and you will have access to the link exchange section which I have found to be extremely value for increasing my SERP’s and page rank.

The people on the Warrior Forum money making message board are generally professional internet marketers… These are the associates that you will want to meet and learn from if you are trying to make a living working from home or on the beach from your laptop…

Don’t forget that one of the greatest advantages to joining a community like this is the ability to reach out and get advice from people that were where you are a few years back. If you contribute helpful information to the system, you will find that the people there are very nice and you will be rewarded in ways you can never imagine.

Another advantage to being part of the community is the ability to make a custom signature with anchor text links. They let you place up to three links into your signature and once you make your way through a few threads leaving helpful comments and dropping your anchor text links in your signature, you will see that this will have a very impressive impact on your overall search rankings.

Sitepoint Forum is another great place to spread your signature and find interesting information about web design, internet marketing etc… Out of all the money making message boards, I find Sitepoint to be up there with the best. You will need to make several comments before the website will let you post a signature with do-follow links. That’s alright because keep in mind you need to try your best to comb through these threads for useful information.

I have found several useful strategies and ebooks about how to make money with blogs on this site and you will too if you search hard enough. Some of the advantages of this site is the ability to easily navigate the site, a large membership base and content that is extremely helpful in building your business.

These are just a few money making message boards i.e. opportunity message boards to get you started. If you search hard enough you will find tons of them out there…

If you really try to absorb the information and opportunities on these boards you will end up learning things that will advance your progress by leaps and bounds. The people on the sites will become to recognize you as familiar and may even come to respect you enough to reach out via PM and offer you an opportunity for a joint venture or link exchange.

Try your best to read all the rules of conduct for each board so that you know what you can and cannot get away with. Never use profanity or leave useless replies that don’t address the topic. This type of behavior can easily get you banned and at bare minimum will negatively affect your reputation.

Keep in mind, the web is like a large playground and if you don’t play nice with the other kids, you can expect them to rock the boat so to speak. A few negative reviews from someone at the top of your niche can seriously damage your rep and make people avoid you.

I know that for some of my subscribers, this is old news and may not seem that relevant but I think it’s important to cover topics like these in an effort to cover the bases and circle the wagons. It’s easy to become involved with certain activities and forget about other activities that can be incredibly valuable to us.

If you follow the advice in this article, there is no doubt that you will prosper greatly from the money making message boards available to you and its very likely that opportunities will present themselves as a result of your participation!
